The Boudican revolt unveils an unbinding love between Gnaeus Julius Agricola and Boudica's daughter Kianna whose wish is to spend the rest of their lives together--but destiny separates them.
Kianna’s mother, queen of the Iceni tribe, is disgraced before her people by orders of the Roman tax collector who demands she be whipped for insulting Rome. As one of the soldiers, Julius must comply but chooses to protect at least one of the queen’s two daughters from being raped. He has Kianna taken to his tent and the days that follow results with them falling in love.
Julius is ordered to Camulodumun/Colchester and on the way, his group is attacked by the Trinovantes tribe, and Kianna is taken from him. Kianna is returned to her mother and married to her betrothed—Calgacus who believes the child she carries is his.
To protect her Roman’s child, Kianna keeps silent. The child is all she has now of Julius and she fears she will find him slain by her mother’s warriors. She has given this Roman her heart and doesn’t want to take it back…but Calgacus is an understanding and loving husband.
Because, Julius witnessed the humiliation of the Iceni queen, the governor of Britannia, Suetonius Paullinus makes Julius his first officer as Camulodunum, Londinum and Verulanium are destroyed by the uprising Britanni tribes. Every confrontation with the Britanni frightens Julius that he’ll find Kianna dead. All he wants is to have her back in his arms. Through Julius and Kianna’s eyes, the reader experiences the destruction and the final battle between the Romans and the Britanni.
Julius and Kianna are reunited and Gnaeus is born. Three months later, Calgacus (thought to be dead) returns for his wife and infant son Colin. Terrified that she’s seeing a ghost take her son, Kianna falls to her death.
Gnaeus is all he has left of the woman he loves more than life and he’ll do anything he has to do to remove Gnaeus from the hands of the Britanni. Gnaeus Julius Agricola will return for his son if he has to bring the entire Roman army with him to do it.
Now, Colin is all Calgacus has of the woman he loves more than life and will do anything to protect Colin from the threat of Rome returning for him.
